Responsibilities
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Report to the kitchen at scheduled times to oversee the preparation of the designated meal according to the menu, and make sure that all meals are served on time and in accordance with all regulations (CACFP).
- Rotate and use all food supplies so that no commodity remains on the shelf longer than is allowed and use food in a manner to prevent waste.
- Knowledgeable of health codes established by the County Health Department and abide by them.
- Responsible for organizing the kitchen’s contents and fulfilling cleaning tasks assigned by Food Service Manager and Culinary Services Director.
- Maintain consistent dialogue with the Food Service Manager to inform of donations received and to make aware of supplies that are needed.
- Responsible for all kitchen operations in the absence of the Food Service Manager.
- Weigh, record, and itemize all donations that are received and to promptly and properly store all food.
- Willing to assist with emergencies that can occur in the late evening hours or weekends.
Job Standards
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have previous kitchen experience.
- Must maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance with wardrobe appropriate for work in a kitchen.
- Ability to verbally communicate with guests, the public, volunteers, and other members of the staff in a respectful manner.
